Free Sudoku online, at your own pace

Sudoku Notebook (Nanpure Cho) is a free browser puzzle game for phones, tablets and computers. Play in English with no account or installation. Generate a puzzle, return to a saved game or choose one of today's three puzzles.

How to play Sudoku

In classic 9×9 Sudoku, fill each row, column and 3×3 box with the digits 1–9, without repeating a digit. The starting clues stay fixed. Select an empty cell and enter a number; use pencil marks to track candidates, undo a move or check a hint while practising.

Three daily Sudoku puzzles

There are three new daily puzzles, refreshed at midnight in Japan (UTC+9). The puzzle type and size vary. Play at your own pace or choose a ranking challenge. Publishing your result is optional; ranked attempts use their own timer and do not allow hints or answers.

Classic, Jigsaw, Killer and more

Generate classic Sudoku in sizes including 4×4, 6×6, 9×9 and 16×16. Try Jigsaw Sudoku with irregular regions or Killer Sudoku with sum cages. Available sizes and difficulty levels depend on the variant. Read the rules shown for each puzzle before starting.

Printable Sudoku and PDF

Create puzzles, open the print menu and select A4 or A3 paper. Put one or several puzzles on a sheet, add separate answer pages or split a large grid across sheets. To save a PDF, choose the PDF option in your browser's print dialog.

Save your progress

Free-play puzzles and progress are stored in the browser you use. Continue in that same browser, or export a transfer file from the save menu to keep a backup or move to another device. Clearing browser data can erase local progress. Puzzle creation, play and printing are free.
